Samsung Kicks Off One UI 9 Beta for Galaxy S26 Series
The new update packs creative tools, security boosts, and more customization for Android 17.

Samsung just kicked off the One UI 9 beta. It's for Galaxy S26 users, naturally. This comes right after One UI 8.5 dropped, and honestly, Samsung's not slowing down. The beta, which launched today, is live in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. Pretty exclusive for now.
So, What's One UI 9 Got?
It's all running on Android 17, and Samsung's packed in a bunch of features. They're really pushing creative tools and customization this time around. What does that mean for you?
- Samsung Notes: Think new decorative ribbons, more pen sizes. Get creative.
- Creative Studio: Right from your Contacts app. Personalized profile cards? You got it.
- Quick Panel: Redesigned. More control over layout, brightness, sound, media player. Everything.
- Accessibility: Better mouse-button speed adjustments. A combined TalkBack package for sharper cursor control.
- Text-Spotlight: Select text, it pops up in a floating window. Easier to read, right?

Security Gets a Boost
Security? Yeah, that's a big deal here too. One UI 9 brings new ways to sniff out suspicious apps, warn you about potential threats. It'll block risky apps from running or even installing, then tell you how to get rid of them. Stronger policies, better protection. Simple.
What's Next?
This beta? It's not the whole package, not yet. Samsung's teasing the real One UI 9 experience will drop later this year with the next batch of Galaxy flagships. Those devices are gonna pack advanced AI, supposedly to make using your phone easier. We'll see how that shakes out.
Samsung's Playbook
Samsung's done this before. It's their playbook, honestly. They always use these betas: gather feedback, iron out the kinks before the big launch. Last year, it was the foldables. In fact, those new foldables are probably getting One UI 9 right out of the box in July. Bet on it.
What We Don't Know Yet:
- The full extent of those new AI features in future Galaxy models. Just how 'advanced' are we talking?
- Specific dates for the official One UI 9 release. No firm word.
- Which other markets might get the beta program. Still waiting on that.
Why It Matters
So, why does any of this matter? One UI 9 shows Samsung's serious about making phones more personal, more secure. With creative tools and security boosts, Samsung's trying to stay competitive. Users want more from their phones, obviously. Updates like this? They're key to keeping fans happy, maybe snagging new ones. It's that simple.
