Samsung's aiming to make life easier for its users with a fresh update to its Device Care app. This nifty upgrade targets apps that bombard you with ads—something every smartphone user knows all too well. Word of the feature first broke thanks to @KAILASH61229293 on X and SammyGuru.

Mute Ads, Keep Apps

Device Care, Samsung's built-in app for keeping your phone in shape, now lets you 'Block apps with excessive ads.' Don't worry, you're not losing the apps themselves. It's just their annoying ad notifications that get silenced. You've got two ways to manage this: 'basic' and 'intelligent' blocking.

  • Basic blocking: Samsung automatically picks out apps that spam ads and blocks them for you.
  • Intelligent blocking: It figures out which alerts are just ads and blocks those.

Once apps are in 'deep sleep' mode, they won't bug you unless you open them. Check which ones are blocked by heading to Settings > Device Care > Care report > Excessive alerts.

Compatibility Check

Looks like you'll need One UI 8.5 for this. Some folks, especially with the Galaxy S26 series, are already seeing it. To find out if you've got it, try the Galaxy Store or snag the APK from @KAILASH61229293's X post.

The Ad Overload Problem

With all those 'freemium' apps out there, ads are everywhere, and Samsung knows it's a pain. Building this ad-blocking feature right into their system shows they're serious about user experience.

Still Up in the Air:

  • How well does the intelligent blocking actually work?
  • How often does Samsung update which apps get blocked?
  • Will older Galaxy models get this feature?

Why It Counts:

Samsung's move to cut back on ads fits with the industry's push to make digital life smoother. As more users get tired of intrusive ads, features like this could become the norm, changing how tech companies build their products. This update not only makes users happier, but it might also push other phone makers to catch up.
